BrowseStay ("we", "us") provides a browser extension that helps travellers find direct-booking options for vacation rentals while browsing Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the extension does and does not do with your information.

Summary: The BrowseStay extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. It runs entirely inside your browser. We have no server that receives your browsing activity, and we do not use analytics or tracking of any kind.

1. What the extension accesses

To do its job, the extension reads limited information from the booking pages you visit on supported sites (Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com):

  1. the public web address (URL) of the page you are viewing;
  2. the public listing title and destination shown on that page.

It uses this only, on your device, to check whether a matching direct-booking option exists and to display it to you. This reading happens live as you browse and is not recorded or sent anywhere.

2. What we store, and where

The extension stores its settings and any direct-booking listings on your own device, using your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). This data:

  1. never leaves your browser;
  2. is not transmitted to us or to any third party;
  3. can be removed at any time by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling it.

3. What we do NOT collect

We do not collect or process any of the following:

  1. your name, email address, or account details;
  2. your payment or financial information;
  3. your passwords or login credentials for any site;
  4. your private messages, cookies, or browsing history on other sites;
  5. any data from pages outside the supported booking sites.

The extension only activates on Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com. It does nothing on any other website.

4. No tracking, no analytics, no ads

BrowseStay contains no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, and no third-party code that profiles you. We do not build a profile of you and we have nothing to sell, because we receive no data from the extension.

5. Booking directly with owners

When you choose to book direct, the extension opens the property owner's own website in your browser. From that point you are on the owner's site, governed by the owner's own privacy practices, not ours. We are not a party to, and do not process, any booking or payment you make there.

6. Permissions we request, and why

  1. activeTab / scripting — to read the public listing details on the page you are actively viewing, so we can check for a direct option.
  2. storage — to save your settings and direct-booking listings locally on your device.

We request no other permissions in the published extension.

7. Children

BrowseStay is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at this URL.

9. Not affiliated with the platforms

BrowseStay is not affiliated with, associated with, or endorsed by Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, or any other booking platform. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
